Middlesex County was part of Hesse District, Quebec. [Quebec formerly covered the current area of Ontario and Quebec. In 1791 Quebec was divided into Upper and Lower Canada at the current Ontario-Quebec border]

Hesse District was renamed Western District, which was now part of Upper Canada. Delaware Township, Westminster Township and most of North Dorchester Township were part of Suffolk County, while the rest of the townships were Indian Land

1798
The townships of London, Delaware, Westminster and North Dorchester were part of London District, Upper Canada. The remaining townships were in Indian Land

1800
Middlesex County was "born" as an Act of Legislature of Upper Canada, 1 Jan 1800

1826
The townships of East Williams, West Williams, Biddulph and McGillivray were Indian Land. The remaining townships were in London District, Upper Canada

1838
The townships of East Williams, West Williams, Biddulph and McGillivray were in Huron District, Upper Canada. West Nissouri Township was in Brock District, Upper Canada. The remaining townships were in London District, Upper Canada

Williams Township joins Middlesex County

The townships of McGillivray and Biddulph were in Huron District, Canada West. The township of West Nissouri was in Brock District, Canada West. The remaining townships were in London District, Canada West
